Water is the main necessity in Singapore. Similarly, we all know that Public Utilities Board (PUB) is in charge of water conservation in Singapore, therefore, the reservoir is used to store water for community usage, water catchment, and water is used in an integrated way ((PUB), 2019) for further process usage. Additionally, Public Utilities Board (PUB) mainly deal with 3 main water sources such as “seawater”, “reclaimed water” (NEWater), and “catchment water” respectively.

For your information, the water that we are using at our residential and commercial are all come from 17 different reservoirs partially collect from rainwater through rivers, streams, canals, and drains.

In Oct 2015, an incident like water disruption cases in some HDB blocks in Clementi (TIMES, 2015) and Ghim Moh areas causing poor water pressure. Nevertheless, the situation has recovered during the day and everything is normalized from 1840hrs. Therefore, Ministry of Renovation (MOR) will be updating any information that comes from the Public Utilities Board (PUB) affecting renovation trades as much as possible in the news section of MOR portal.

Concurrently, also to mention the incident on 1st April 2018 that enforce tightening to the rules of the public utilities board (PUB) in water permits submission (PUB, 2018). Hence, this affects the entire renovation trades for the plumber to do additional works for PUB submission before conducting any piping or accessories installation for the house. A plumber or handyman that does not comply with these rules will get fine if caught by the public utilities board (PUB), so, better be safe than sorry.
